Transcend MP330 hacks to select by ID3?

by cliffsloane / April 7, 2014 5:01 PM PDT

I just bought the Transcend MP330. Although mostly excellent, it has one limitation that I would like to overcome.

It displays ID3 tag information when playing, but does not allow you to choose items based on ID3 (Artist, Album, Title, etc).

Can the firmware be hacked to add this? If anyone can do this or already has, I am willing to pay.
I have:
Version 3.15
Firmware updater for version 2.15
Manual

I have created a low-tech workaround by creating directories at the top level for the artists.

The usual workaround.

Use one of the many MP3 file renamers to put the Artist or such information in the file name or whatever the player uses now. This player does not appear to have open source so my answer is no.

Bob, thanks for the info about the firmware.

Your workaround is OK, but the larger the number of files, the harder it is to navigate. The player has a file navigator function, so breaking it down to different folders for each artist does a slightly better job.

Hey, that's how I do it.

I use CDEX and it creates folders with each CD in its own folder. For me that works.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
