transcend jetflash elite help

Jul 17, 2010 12:34AM PDT

I'm hoping someone can help find an answer for me here so here goes. I have a transcend 8gb flash drive with jet flash elite encryption software. I have pictures, movies and documents all stored on the drive and I have them all encrypted with the software. The other day I went to change my password and as soon as I did the drive started decrypting all of the files automatically, I wasn't sure what was going on so I cancelled the decrypting and I also figured that cancelled the password change but my password changed anyways. the majority of my files are in a folder within the My Documents folder on the drive and now I can't open any of the files in that folder. I have a couple of files in the My Documents folder that open but all of the files within the subfolder won't open. if I look at the files in jetflash the file extensions in the subfolder look different from the ones in My Documents. For example, I have a document in My Documents that says .doxc.enc however the documents in the subfolder says .doxc with no ENC after it. I tried changing my password back to the original and letting the program decrypt and then re-encrypt all my files because I thought that might fix it but it didn't. I know thats a lot to explain but could someone please help me. I think I just need to figure out a way to get the .enc back to everything in the sub folder. I can decrypt the files but they just won't open all programs that would normally open them say they are not the right type of file and i'm not sure what to do. Thanks so very much!!!!!

There might be a lesson hidden here.

It's this: always have an unencrypted copy of encrypted data in a safe - normally inaccessible - place, just in case the encryption fails.

Sadly this story has been told before.

Some get upset about being told about backups but since it's their own encryption and non-standard you get to call Transcend and see if they can cure it.

in that case...

In that case, does anyone happen to know a good program to restore all files on an sd card. I had the files backed up on an sd card and if I can recover the files i'll be ok. I do know pictures and other files have been put on the card since then and programs i've looked at recommend not putting anything else on the card so the files don't get overwritten but I was wondering if theres a total file recovery program anyone knows of?? Thanks.
