tranfering HDD video to dvd

by dsnypaul / April 12, 2008 2:00 PM PDT

I am considering purchasing the Sony HDR-SR11 as I currently have a 9 year old camcorder (Sony CCD-TRV85) with a 12x optical zoom and a viewfinder, which both are important to me and am finding it difficult to find a new Sony camcorder with both of these features. My question is should I purchase an HDD camcorder if I don't have any HDD tv or computers at home, and would only be tranfering the video onto DVD to watch, or is there another camcorder with these features that I have somehow overlooked?

Thanks
Paul

Since you don't have any computers (how do you post here without?) you'll have to ask the sellers, sales staff to demo the steps to make DVDs. The method for a Sony might be Sony's dvd recorder box and that's easy.

That's just software.

You need to determine what content is on the HDD camcorder then make sure your video editors can render that to your DVD. It's just an output from your video software solution. Once you see it you'll understand.

There is no such thing as an HD computer if HD means

High Definition. HD is a video format. If I were you, I would avoid HD. It requires a technical understanding that you don't seem to have. I would go with SD and a hard drive based camera.

Recording to DVD

I have the Canon AG-HSCIU and you can use a Sony DVD recorder to simply record onto a DVD directly from the camera.

Of course, it will not be in HD.
