Tracking Runtime & Windows System Errors in XPE Event Viewer

by chupula / June 30, 2008 12:40 AM PDT

Can somebody tell me if the support has been built-in to track Runtime Errors and Windows System errors in the XP Embedded Event Viewer? I am working on a proprietary system which was built on a hardened box running XPE and have been getting multiple Runtime and Windows System errors that I would like to document for easier troubleshooting & repair.

Thanks!

The person who built the XPE image could have left that out. Have you talked to them if this is in or out? And no, you can't add it unless you are the XPE developer.

So to clarify, Bob...

In reply to: No.

... by "XPE Developers", do you mean the kind folks at Microsoft, or our people who actually came up with the Base Image that we use on our XPE box? Assuming (and hoping) it's the second scenario, are you saying that support is inherently built-in to Runtime and Windows to allow for the errors to be reported to the Event Log on XPE? When I talked to our guys, they weren't sure if it was even possible to have the runtime and windows system errors show up in the log.

In reply to: So to clarify, Bob...

Yup. Them.

2. No it's not inherently there. Just so you know I've taken more than one class or seminar on XPE and you can rip out just about everything and get down to only what you need. If you don't need a system error reporting module, you leave it out.

The feeling I get from your post is you have lost the designer or your base image?
Bob
