Trackball mouse won't work with Win 7 -64 bit

May 15, 2010 12:17PM PDT

I have a MS ItelliMouse trackball PS2(old but love it) but after buying a USB adapter for it it still won't work- Laptop doesn't recognize it! I don't like the touchpad (too touchy). I did see on a Q&A for a mouse company that USB adapters don't work on a PS2, if so why would they sell them!! The USB ports work as I plugged in a USB mouse fine( not a trackball tho') My system is: Toshiba Satellite A505-S6017- Intel i5-430M Quad - 4 GB DDR3 Memory - 500 GB hard drive. OS Win7 -64 bit

I've never needed drivers for it on other PC's but someone suggested it's because this is a 64 bit. I don't like design of newer trackballs as I have a problem w/right hand an the buttons are all on the right side that suits me perfectly. Is there any hope for me?!!

Typical USB adapters are a "go/no go" situation. If it doesn't work, don't beat your head up, buy another yet more expensive or capable adapter. The other side, if the costs are that great, then consider yet a new trackball mouse.

I can't tell what you got.

The usual retail 10 buck and under solution is just WIRES in some adapter. The item I showed is the next step up with an interface "chip".
