Tracfone, Unlocked? Can you switch SIMS?

Apr 23, 2005 9:04AM PDT

I am trying to find out if Tracfones are locked or unlocked? Some of the phones are GSM and have SIMs. I was wondering if you can take the SIMs out and use a SIM from a different company. I notice that they sell the Motorola V60i. I believe this phone is GSM and would have a SIM. It believe it is also tri band, which means it could be use in another country. If you could remove the SIM and buy one for that country it would be a worthwhile buy. Does anyone know if this Tracfone model, or any other, is Tri band and has a SIM that can be removed, and lastly will it work with a foreign SIM (I guess that means it is or can be unlocked)? Any Tracfone experts out there? Most customer reps at Tracfone don't seem that knowledgable, and they don't want me unlocking the phone or taking out the SIM.
