Question

Tracfone BYOP LG Lucid 3 problems

Nov 21, 2015 8:07AM PST

I have tried to register this phone for Tracfone.
The IMEI checker on the BYOP website says that the phone (CDMA) is compatible with the program. Also, I have found an account on the net of someone being successful with this phone. The problem occurs when the section of registering the phone asks me what the sim number and network access code is. For three new sim cards it has said that the sim is incompatible. The tracfone hotline has been minimally helpful. Does anyone know what is going on here?

IMEI: 9900 0261 2867 596

SIM#: 89148000001878315521 (LAST one I bought at Walmart)

Model#: VS876

This phone is not under contract with Verizon and has no sim card in it.

Tell a little more about the LG

Was it on Sprint, from Sprint or same for any other carrier?

If so, it's likely locked.

It was bought used off of amazon, and besides the problem of service, is working like a gem. I really like the phone and it would be a dissapiontment to have to buy a low performance tracfone. (Tracfone is my only affordable option)

It was with Verizon. Well, it was painted on to the back cover.

It is an LTE phone and the Verizon website on locking policy says that they do not lock their 4g LTE phones.

Plus, the seller, PONADS, said that it was off contract, and I have no reason to suspect it is on contract, since it is a pretty old model.

That's probably it.

The stories about moving phones off Verizon or Sprint are legend. That's partly why I moved to GSM unlocked phones. So the next move is to get Verizon to let go. And yes, they won't get interested because there's no money in it.

Here's where I went. Ting.com, a GSM SIM and unlocked BLU phone. Done.

So even if it says it is not locked, then it probably is? I know someone who made their used verizon 4gLTE phone go to Straight talk with no problem.
Isn't this close to the same exact thing?

How would I contact verizon about unlocking the phone?

Gsm is not good an option because I live in a slightly rural area where verizon covers best. (Tracfone's CDMA provider)

I have looked at the blu phones though, and besides that, they look like a good value and quality.

Too many stories. I'm deferring to those stories.

Same goes for how to contact Verizon and Tracfone. Some times it's something they did wrong but if your got the numbers right, 99.999% of the time it's a phone that is locked or not in the system.

Note: Corrected typo.

Deception
Nov 21, 2015 11:43AM PST

So do you think that Verizon just lies about their phones not being unlocked?

I will try my best to unlock the phone, but you would think that if it was still locked, the IMEI checker would have filtered my phone out, right?

What do you mean by not in the system? How would I get it in?

Sorry if I don't duplicate the web.

Too many stories. As the the IMEI system, I think it's something designed by carriers for carriers. So any glitch and you are on the phone trying to sort it out.

Even I had a well out of contract HTC I bought, finished the contract and there was zero hope of getting it on another carrier. Since I've heard the stories I just went with another phone from Glyde that was good to go on my new network.

Later after Sprint took out a tower in my area and service worsened I went to Ting (which has both Sprint and Tmobile.) So for me the next move was unlocked phones. I got a nice 99 buck BLU from amazon (new!) and will not deal with Sprint or V's nonsense again.

Answer
there's your problem

it needs a SIM card. Call tracfone and have them send you one for it.

What?

So you're telling me that the sim card included
in the BYOP kit will not work?
Please explain.

Did it come from Tracfone?

If so, then the explanation can only come from them.
