Question

TP-Link Archer C7 v4 undtable wired connection

Nov 14, 2018 9:45AM PST

So, I have installed this Archer C7 router in my attic to get all my devices connected and I bought an Access Point for the Wi-Fi part. Now, the day I installed them everything was working great: 900+ Mbps Download and 500+ Upload. Yesterday, the connection started getting unstable, first noticed this on the Wi-Fi. I suspected it was my Access Point, but soon realized it wasn't, as the same issue appeared on my wired devices and rebooting the AP didn't help. But since at work the connection wasn't too great with 5 PCs connected to a network fully capable of driving 150 PCs, I suspected it came from the providers. So, I let it wait since today.
Today, when I got home, I got all the same results from my devices. So, I rebooted the router and the Access Point and the connection was back to normal.

Now I know I'll get enough "solutions" saying that rebooting the router once a week will solve everything (or scheduling reboots for the device once a week). I know that, I came here for a real solution to the problem, even if that involves getting into compiling Open Source Projects from TP-Link. By the way, the firmware is up-to-date and none of these two devices are overheating.

Answer
Some devices that's the fix. (reboot)

But do keep checking the maker for new firmware. Sometimes it's firmware, sometimes we get to change out the parts that don't work for long periods of time.
