TouchVPN Betternet VPN are now compromised. Hijacked.

From https://www.techrepublic.com/article/warning-these-8-google-chrome-extensions-have-been-hijacked-by-a-hacker/?CNET these VPNs and more have been hijacked.

I've been asked many times about VPNs in particular and due to the way VPNs work, TRUST is a major issue.

Now that these addons and VPNs have been hijacked, I have to repeat that just because a product claims to be an Antivirus, VPN or such does not mean it is. The article at https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/its-almost-2017-and-users-are-still-getting-infected-with-malware-via-fake-av-software/ dives into how some download Fake Security apps or "cracks" to known antivirus suites and get infected along the way.

My advice is to research your choices on VPN and any security products before you install.

None if you can.

For now I either boot and use the Tails OS or Opera's own free VPN when I feel the need.

The problem with VPNs is growing so my advice is you have to know why you need this along with researching your choices.
