Question

Touchpad doesnt work

Hello,
I have a problem with my touchpad. Yesterday I spilled a bit of water on my keyboard and i was cleaning it pressing all the keys. And my touchpad is not working since then. I am not sure in this point if its from some key combination I pressed or because of the water, which wasnt even on touchpad.
My pc is ASUS X541UA, Win 10.
I tried to press fn+F9 and its only showing a a window that touchpad is disabled. Pressing on it more times and it still shows the same.
I also tried to go to devices and search for hidden devices and by clicking on touchpad device to enable it it shows a message like: This hardware device is not connected to PC, (code 45) . If you want to remove this problem, connect the hardware device to PC.

Can you please help me?

Next step (if you don't like using a mouse in stead of the touchpad): replace the keyboard.

wires could've been damaged

Maybe water was dropped not on the touchpad directly but wires could've been damaged, so probably you will need to go to repair

but the touchpad worked after the spilling. It stopped after I pressed all the keys cleaning the water. Isnt there any other way to try turn it on?

I think it's water

In reply to: touchpad

I still think it was water it just affected your touchpad not in a moment but later

Frankly, would not fix.

The spill most likely killed the pad so you could try a new pad but the cheap exit is some external mouse. I use one all the time on my laptops.
