General discussion

Touchpad disables when typing, please help to disable this.

Feb 25, 2010 5:53PM PST

When I type on my keyboard, the touchpad disables itself, like the "Hide Pointer While Typing" option avaliable for Mouse properties. This is very annoying when for example playing games, but also when tying and you want to quickly want to move the mouse after tying. This is because the lock-up lasts for about 1 second after typing.
I have tried disabling "Hide Pointer While Typing" option, and there is no option in the Synaptics specific driver that I can find.

I run Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, but I had the same problem in Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5935G.

You'll have to find out if someone installed TouchFreeze or similar. I can't guess what they installed.

It was like this after the refromatting of the computer, some basic drivers that came with the PC were installed with the driver package CD. I have not installed any programs like you mentioned, and I am the only person who uses this laptop.

It's not the stock setting here. I think you are asking where this setting might be. Sadly my Acer Vista machine doesn't do that out of the box. Keep looking for the settings. I'd suspect it's in the touchpad options since this one is CLASSIC to stop owners from complaining about jumping pointers.

I can't find an online manual for this pad.
