Question

Touch screen not working. Help?

May 2, 2019 8:45PM PDT

Alrighty so my inspiron 11 3000 isn't the most lovable of laptops... I liked its 2-in-one feature the best. Key word: Liked. After having it for maybe six months, the touchscreen became unresponsive. Only now have I dedicated myself to fixing the problem. I've done all the updates (including drivers), and I've ran the troubleshooter many times.. One big problem is that my HIV-compliant touch screen is missing from the device manager list. How can I restart it if it isn't even there?? Now, I really don't know much about computers. But, I can carry out instructions well. Sooo, if anybody has an idea, please share!

Thanks,
~Lydia

Thanks, I probably should have mentioned that I did completely reset my computer and it didn't fix anything... so I'm wondering if maybe it's an internal issue. However I will still do some searching on that link you sent, thank you very much!

Dell may require work AFTER such a reset.

I won't have the exact steps here but will share how I work such issues.

I have a generic recipe after a Windows install or for W8+10 a factory reset. After the Windows install or reset I head to the maker's site for drivers in a generic order of:
Motherboard, audio, video, then apps specific to that model.

Some W10 reset systems will not do all the work for us.

If going back to factory condition fails, and seeing that it isn't even shown in Device Manager, this could very well be a hardware problem.
Since it's only 6 months old, you still have warranty, so contact the shop or Dell for a free repair.
