Touch pad/ left & right clicker acting funny

by Syrinx77 / September 6, 2008 9:50 AM PDT

Ok, I wanted to get this in here now in case they started up again.

Basically, my laptop's (Dell i6000) left clicker wasn't working. I was having to do everything w/ arrows, Tab & Enter. The right clicker would show me a menu. I couldn't "X out" of screens.

Also, I was able to move my cursor, but it'd sometimes "stick" & move the side bars when I'd wanted to let them go.

I wasn't sure if this was all a hard or software problem. Maybe a malware or something? So I ran a scan w/ SUPERSpyware & paused it to write this.

Lo & behold, touch pad & left click are working again. But now I'm afraid it may randomly act up.

What to do?

thx!

...you didn't tell us anything about your operation system or the results of the spyware scan, it's hard to know where to proceed..

Hopefully you are aware that most touchpads allow you to lightly "hit" the mousepad itself with a fingertip and it will act as a standard left click?? Did you try that?

In situations here, when a laptop mousepad goes bad, we either replace the mousepad, clickers and all..or turn off the mousepad and use a regular mouse.

Hope this helps.
