touch of color T260HD HDTV monitior Common Interface slot

Mar 2, 2009 4:09AM PST

Basically I am confused on as to whether or not the Monitor has a CI slot. Everyone I have seen in stores do not have it, many sites say it has one in the specs but upon looking at the pictures they do not have it.

The models I have seen have it placed on the left side of the monitor above an HDMI slot and headphone jack. Are there models with and without it? If so which models come with it and why?

I know that only the T260HDs have the TV tuner and the T260s do not, so I know I'm looking at the correct monitor series but the inconstancy of what I have seen worries me when I wish to purchase one with a CI slot, I want to make sure I can watch HD channels and my Movie channels like HBO and the like.

Didn't see that spec

JofJAX,

I didn't see that specification on our website. However, I did contact our monitor specialist, and he noted that there is no CI slot on the T260HD.

I hope that helps.

T260HD CI slot

I supposed it is the UK version because I found it on the UK version of Samsung's website: http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/detail/spec.do?group=itbusiness&type=monitors&subtype=lcd&model_cd=LS26TDDSUV/EN&fullspec=F

I also saw it on advertised on many sites, but all of the T260HD I went back and looked at no longer have the CI slot listed, though many T240HDs are still listed as such like :

I'd love to know why the UK gets this slot and the US doesn't...

US Versions...

JofJAX,

I can't speak for UK models, unfortunately.

The answer I gave was under the assumption that it was a U.S. related product. Every region has different needs and features (the U.S. is also not using SCART), and I believe the product line reflects that.

I didn't think you were imagining it. Wink

We can't control which products are sold from resellers who are not Authorized Samsung Resellers, so it might be possible to get a UK product in the US, but that wasn't the intent. For U.S. related inquiries, I would still stand behind the point that the products designed to be sold in this region do not have the CI Slot.

Many times, resellers also grab specs from the nearest website and conclude that there aren't regional differences; however, based on broadcast signals, plugs and power voltage differences, we all know that one regions specifications are not applicable to all regions.

If a different region has specs that you absolutely must have, it's probably a good idea to see if a reseller from that region could check for you and ship it. You should not expect a CI slot on current U.S. models. I can't speak for those other regions.

Hope that helps.
