Soda-for-shock allegations probed

OVER ? The school district will continue looking into what happened in a Dover High electrical trades classroom where a student was seriously shocked earlier this month. Police said yesterday students told them their teacher encouraged the incident.

"Several students told investigators that the teacher, identified as Thomas Kelley, told (Kyle) DuBois that he would give him Mountain Dew soda for receiving the shock," police said yesterday.

Kelley denied the allegations to police, Chief Anthony Colarusso said, but admitted to seeing DuBois and other students playing around with an electrical cord and hearing them talk about Mountain Dew prior to the shock, which stopped the 18-year-old's heart.

I haven't been able to find a video of it, but from the news this morning it is clear that the student voluntarily hooked wires to himself that another student plugged into the wall current.
