This number is just for the word IE7 in the Browser's forum. A much larger number if you do a global search.

Should there be an IE7 forum? Or one blanket statement like:

"IE7 is broken, use it at your own risk and don't bother us."

Maybe something similar for the Vista forum?

It was all those newsletters...

The thread I started titled "What do you like/dislike about Internet Explorer 7?" ended up being published in three different Cnet newsletters, which really drew a crowd to the tune of 560 posts and counting. That's also not to mention the poll that Marc created, the download.com commentary, the editor's review blogs, etc. There were over 1,000 IE7-related posts in 4 days. I just glad the bulk of the replies came before we lost out 'Next unread post' link. (Right now I am avoiding most long threads due to navigational issues.)

Now that it's finally calmed down and I've read most of those posts I can safely say one thing: I sure am glad I'm not the one that has to fix Flash Player (may crash and burn), Logitech mice (may not scroll properly), McAfee Internet Security (may block the installation), Webroot SpySweeper (may block the changing of the homepage), etc. After all, you know it's the fault of third-parties, not Microsoft's flaws in IE7, right? Yeah, right, M$ never screws up. . .

I tried it and the install went perfectly (maybe something about a squeaky clean machine and I kind'a know what I'm doing). But I just didn't like the look. Couldn't find the favorites button. Still, just didn't like it. Uninstalled it with no problems.

I'll stick with IE6 and Firefox. If it ain't broke. . . (tongue in cheek). At least not broken as bad as IE7.

LOL. My first reaction to IE7 was..

Where's the menu? (Press Alt or enable by default).

Where's the favorite button? (Left of tab bar).

I fortunately avoided the other major problems with IE7, so it is staying as my at need (MS / IE specific site) browser. Can't function without tabs and I want the improved security.

However, I did email my daughter after one day of testing to warn her to not install IE7 until I could walk her through any problems. Unfortunately she has to regularly work with some sites that are IE only, so Firefox is not a realistic option for her at this time.

Things should be very interesting as the "critical" updates to IE7 start to click in.

BTW John. Try searching for "New!"

Ctrl+F / F3 searching for "New!" speeds up the process a bit.

Not as good as "Next unread" but...

Thanks for the tip!

I hadn't thought of that...for some reason I kept thinking it was an image, not plain text. That will certainly come in handy when searching through the IE7 threads for new posts, which are still coming in now and then.
