I have two issues with this company - 1. Bait and Switching and 2.Domain Hijacking.

I signed a design client up to a 90 something dollar web hosting plan, only to get a phone call from them asking me if I want my website searchable by Google. Essentially, holding my website's search engine visibility hostage for more money. In the end, the cost was more than double of what their advertised rate was. I felt that I would just let the account time out and go somewhere else for a hosting plan when my time was up. I felt that this was a dishonest bait and switch tactic.

On my own hosting account, I was accused by them of sending spam. They said they had a "real good deal" going with AOL and could arbitrate the complaint in 5 minutes if I gave them a bunch of money. They never gave me any evidence of this fictitious fine they paid on my behalf and refused to provide me with anything in writing. I refused to give them any money and told them I was going to take my domains to a different host. They lied to me, saying that ICAN now had control over my domains because of the alleged spam and they were unable to retrieve any release codes so I could take my domains to a new host.

I sent out complaints to anyone I could find. I ended up dealing with their registrar (They are a re-seller and not themselves a registrar). Tucows gave me the controls over my domains, allowing me to get my own codes so I could take my business elsewhere. I felt that this was an extortion scheme using my own domains as hostages.

If anyone ever has a domain issue with this company, find out which registrar they are re-selling for and lodge a complaint with them. Also, complaint to the BBB. I think it is asinine that they are actually displaying a BBB A+ banner ad on their website claiming they are a great company, when they are really Total Internet Thieves!
