http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=lcd+%22light+leakage%22&btnG=Search finds discussions about light leakage. If the display is defective and not just average for said model (I'll share models that has poor and good LCDs next) then for the defectives you have them fix it since LCD replacement costs are still in the many hundred dollar range.

But I have a pair of quite old laptops which the displays are performing just like when new. One model is a washed out display that is uneven in brightness (wavy and spotty) but that was the technology you got for the money those years. I have a stellar display on a Compaq Armada from the same year but that machine was almost double the price then. But the display is crisp and you could use it for many hours.

Hope this helps and I hope your warranty pays off.

Hi,
Toshiba had lcd display problems with tecra 9000, and the tecra 9100. You can replace the lcd, but with the price you would pay for, it is cheaper to get a new laptops. ( $299-$499)

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
