Toshiba Tecra 8100

A friend dropped off his laptop for me to check out and is gone on vacation for three weeks so cant get any info from him.
Got a simple problem but maybe the solution is not so simple.Anyway I cant figure it out.Its installed on a 10/100 network port replicator 11 and no way can I separate them.I downloaded the user manual but no help there and cant find any info on the replicator. The replicator has a sliding switch on the front with a green led next to it thats comes on when booted up(no idea what the switch is for.On the right side there is a lever that I beleive should release the laptop but moved straight out from replicator and can move no farther and nothing happens.
Maybe release is broken, if so any techs out there know of a way to get them separated ,maybe take the replicator apart? I have built several desktops and stripped and rebuilt laptops but this has me stuck and first time seen a replicator.Just hoping someone ran into same problem and found an easy answer. Will wait and hope for a solution before doing sometime maybe stupid and not necessary.Tks.
