I would not have tried drivers but looked at System Restore as well as any Mute feature on the function keys, sound settings and any Toshiba helper app.
If reloading the OS doesn't bring it brink it back there is a cheap USB sound card we use if the product is out of warranty.

Hello folks,
I have a Toshiba Satellite R630-14T, PT31LE
Running Windows 7, 64 bit.
So my mic has decided to disappear. I can't understand what's going on. It's been there for two years and now the system is saying that there is no mic installed.
I downloaded sound drivers and installed them but nothing.
I have no idea what else to do and quite honestly feel like chucking the laptop in the bin and getting one by a different brand! But it's too new for me to go and do that.
Could someone please help me figure this out.
