Question

Toshiba Satellite C55D-C5271 HDD Password

Apr 7, 2016 11:50PM PDT

I just bought the Toshiba Satellite C55D-C5271 laptop pre-installed with Windows 10 and wanted to reformat the operating system back to Windows 7. Carelessly, I set a password to HDD and now, every time I boot my laptop, the HDD password box shows up. No changes take place when loading the default. Resetting to factory settings does not help. Pressing (0) and then, Power Button only freezes the HDD password box. When I do get access to BIOS settings, the HDD password section can not be changed. I have searched through Youtube for help and most of them show take the laptop apart. Hopefully someone can help me.

Here we replace the HDD.

And return the drive to the owner. The HDD password reset is hit and miss and with 500GB HDD's under 50 (last week was 39.99) we can't try the reset and push up the repair bill.
