Can you remove the HDD and put it into some desktop or USB case for retrieval on another PC?
Do you have any of the Live OSes out today to see what is showing on the HDD?

Hello, yesterday my toshiba laptop (windows 10 64 bit) decided to go into automatic disk repair, you know, the one that says it will take over an hour but takes days?
After a series of bad advice and pressing a lot of buttons, I was able to access the boot menu by pressing F12. I see 6 selections: HDD/SSD, ODD, LAN, USB, <Enter Setup> and <HDD Recovery>. i think I need HDD Recovery but if I select it wont i lose everything on my C drive? I just need a safe way to retrieve my stuff from my downloads folder and desktop. I am not worried about chrome and opera because my history is under my account name.
Is there a way for me to access my stuff from this boot menu and then recover my hard drive? Thanks for good answers!
