Toshiba Satellite 5105-S607 Notebook

I have Windows XP on this notebook. I have had a problem for some time. Not sure if a hardware problem or software. When I am using the notebook it will freeze up for a minite and then start back up. When this happens the hard drive or fan, not sure which, comes on and and when it goes off the computer starts to work again. This is very irritating. I need help to fix this problem.

This sounds like an ACPI issue. Fixes will be from the notebook maker in the form of BIOS and motherboard updates. Your post doesn't tell if you have let Toshiba deal with this.
