Resolved Question

Toshiba Sateliltel305 won't boot Windows

Jun 7, 2012 6:47AM PDT

Hi again everyone!
ok, spec's: Toshiba SatelliteLaptop Model L3507.
Pentium T3400, 3G Ram, AVG10 virus scanner.
Here's the gig. The Laptop won't start Windows. Goes all the way through to starting windows, then, Nothing, just a black screen.
I have the recovery disks as this laptop was infected once before with a Virus.
This time the disks don't seem to be working at all.
I have "Umbutu" as well, which is running from a disk no problem. So it's not the dvd r/w.
Any help?
Thanks in advance!
Gordon

Clarification Request
Safe Mode?
Jun 7, 2012 6:59AM PDT

This isn't really the right forum for Windows issues, but since you are here...

Which Windows?

Have you tried Safe Mode yet? If so, what results?

What do you mean by the CD/DVD disks not working at all?

If those disks are faulty try copying the data from those disks to new ones. That sometimes works.

I'll give that a pass. Umbuntu is close enough to Ubuntu. Devil

If Ubuntu (I don't know Umbutu) is running from cd, and your recovery disk is dvd, that might mean that the dvd-part of your drive is broken, while the cd part still works. It's different hardware inside.

Same, but the other way around, if Ubuntu runs from DVD and your recovery disk is CD. You didn't tell.

You said nothing wrong. You have other (and useful) questions and solutions than I had. All is fine.
