Toshiba Sat A-10 S129 Hard Drive Issues

Mar 15, 2005 1:44AM PST

The other night my harddrive started to make a weird clicking noise when it was processing, so I left it running a DVD for the night and when I returned the computer was on a black screen and the fan was not working. So I removed the fan and cleaned it, and also removed the harddrive and when I put it all back together it gave me a IDE# 0 Error, and then a few seconds later to check cable and press any key to continue. So I am asking if I am going to need a new hard drive and if I do replace the hard drive will I be able to reinstall the OS myself without reseating the hard drive? Please Someone Help b/c I called the tech support and the price for the replacement is outragous, and I need my computer for College. Thanks For Taking Your time in reading this

That sounds very bad. Worse case scenario is new mothboard and drive...
