Toshiba Portege R205-S2062 recovery disks

HELP@! I goofed up. I just got this computer about 2 weeks ago and its already dead. (mY fault)

I created the recovery disks but when I went to install them, my notebook lost the CD drive about 2 minutes into the process.
This notebook doesn't have an integrated cd drive so i am using a usb cd drive. I have tried 2 different drives and neither works. It boots up fine, it starts thre recovery and then says it can't find the CD drive!
This left me a no booting hard drive and I have since figured out there was a partition that also had the recovery info on it. Well it looks like attempting to restore the image from the cd's killed all partitions.
What do I do?
The store I bought the PC from doesn't have any to exchange with. I called toshiba and they can send me recovery disks in 10-14 days. I wish I knew someone with one of these PC's and I'd just have them re-create the recovery disks.
