Toshiba L20-198 Equium

I've just bought a Toshiba Equium and find that the audio sound is very low. I've turned up all the volume controls and it makes no difference. It also makes no difference whether the music is played from CD Rom or from the hard drive.

Using the headphones is better still very much lower that you would expect.

Has anyone else had this problem with this model of laptop or am I missing something?
