Question

toshiba dvd player audio/picture issue

Mar 24, 2017 2:29PM PDT

I have a Samsung HDTV - about 8 years old - works fine. Used my Toshiba SDK990KU dvd player two days ago to play a dvd. Yesterday, when I put a new dvd in, it had no sound. I played with the remote, and then picture disappeared. I unplugged the dvd player to reset it - plugged it back in this morning - still no sound or pic. Checked all inputs. I put in a different dvd - same story. Tv audio and picture are fine.
Toshiba support was no help. Any ideas?

Did you try default settings?

"Use Default Settings
If you want to return the initial language setting such as
Language, Video, Audio and etc. to the factory default, do
the following:
1) Press SETUP button.
2) Press / (see page 33) button to select Misc
3) Press (see page 33) button to select Use Default Settings
, then press ENTER button.
4) Press / (see page 33) button to select “Yes”, then press ENTER
button. The original setting will be restored.
Note When you reset the DVD player to the factory default, the
DVD player will take 3-5 seconds to reset"

well, I thought about that - diidn't see that page in the manual - but since I have no picture, not sure how I am going to do that. I did the following:
turned the dvd player on, changed my tv to HDMI 1, hit setup, arrow down 4 times, arrow up once, enter, arrow left once, enter. (that's what I saw on photo on page 33 - is that correct?) Still no picture or sound.

At this point it's time to get it to the shop.

Gave it a good try by finding the manual and it's not working. Shop time.

appreciate your help

I agree - but not the shop - buy a new one. I'm sure the cost to have it fixed would come close to the price of a new one.
thanks for the help - apreiate your time.

Not for repair but to test if it's good/bad.

Maybe try this on another TV? Let a relative or friend test it?
