One of the machines has been sent back to Harvey Norman, they are looking at it and we have heard nothing for a week.
The other machine, the one that was reformatted by the venodr (Harvey Norman), has bursts of speed. Usually after you have repeated and operation, ie the first time you do something for a while it's slow then after that, it's comparable with the performance of the HP.
After discussions with the Harvey Norman techs, the common theme is to up the RAM. They shipped it with 256, I would have expected this to be adequate, they are recommending not an additional 256 but jumping up to 512, and addional nzd $250 or so. Fantastic!
Imagine if GM motors shipped the latest XR6 falcon that didnt have enough grunt to make it up the gentlest of hills. You ring the car yard they said you need to install Turbocharger on it!
And they say car dealers are dodgey????
Hi Forum
My Boss and one of our staff has recently purchased the Impressive looking Toshi A70 note books each. Both have to 3.06 ghz P4 + 256 ram.
I feel so sorry for the both, they appear to have purchased absolute lemons, NZ$ 3000.00 lemons.
Both machines suffer from lockups, very slow bootups/shut downs, very slow screen updates, and are generally unsuable.
1 Machine was returned and had the HD reformatted, OS reinstalled, the performance has improved somewhat but still is not comparable to my HP NX9040 (1.6 centrino + 512ram) which by the way is an absolute weapon - I love it!
The other machine has just been returned after contacting the vendor who told the buyer to contact the Toshiba help desk. After being on hold for half an hour he was told to buy more ram and he needed to upgrade his video. This 1 month machine has no special software (not even office), and has only ever been used to surf and for email on dialup (the user must have the patience of a saint - I would have frisbied it all the way back to the vendor). The Norton AV & win updates are up to date and Spybot was installed. There is no evidence of malware etc.
Anyone got any ideas or had any issues?
