Toshiba 62HM15A

Feb 18, 2006 10:35AM PST

Recently I purchase a TOshiba 62HM15A model. After installing at home, I noticed that the TV has several "colling fans". Per the manual, the fans should turn off after the tv cools off. However, there is one fan that is continuosly running. I called Toshiba twice and by my surprise, I got 2 different answers - one being that any HDTV tv has a fan which runs 24/7 (so normal), and another representative stating that it might be a malfunction. Since I am not expert on this, I am not sure to whom believe. As so, I don't know if that is normal (even though is driving me crazy) or if I have a defect product. I appreciate any feedback on this matter. Thanks

FAN SHOULD SHUT OFF
Feb 20, 2006 4:49AM PST

I Just bought the Toshiba 72HM195 The only difference should be screen size. My set has a blue power lamp and when I turn the set off a yellow lite comes on and flashes and I can hear the fans and after about 3 minutes fans and yellow lite turn off. Also please post a review on your 62" Toshiba in cnet.com I have spent over a year looking for that perfect picture in a 70" + t.v. and MY Topshiba has the best picture I have ever seen period except of course plasma sets Also a 72" picture really gives that movie experience ha ha stewart please reply

it might depend on the model

I called again Toshiba and I was told that the fan which runs 24/7 is for the HD turner and it should run constantly. The 62' also has a lamp cooling fan which turns off couple minutes after I turn off the TV. So far the TV has been OK, except for this little noise. I will post a review soon. The 62 does not have a yellow light (just green or red). Maybe there is a difference btw our models. Luck you I guess.
