The 63 series is horrible pic compared to the 85s, but even better at the end of this month samsung is releasing the 88 series pedistals which look the same, have 1080p resolution, and 5000:1 contrast ratio. That sounds better dosnt it. Also, the 67 series will look like the 63's, but is much better, they will all be released in april.
Hey all. I've narrowed my search down to the two models above (Samsung's 50" standard DLP and the one with the pedestal for those who don't memorize model numbers
). The pedestal (5085) is slightly more expensive, but is it worth the extra price? I know that once the stand for the other tv is factored in the prices become significantly closer, but the pedestal is still higher. In short, I guess my question is this: is the higher price of the pedestal TV actually purchasing increased quality or just the fancy design? Also, the pedestal uses a DLP2+ chip where the other uses the DLP3: isn't the 3 a better chip? Thanks for your info- buying a TV now can be extremely confusing
.
As a side inquiry, I was wondering if anyone knew why Circuit City and Best Buy have such high prices in comparison to other smaller stores listed in the price guide on this site. Do they assume that most people won't order such a large purchase on the internet thus aren't competing with online stores, or is the option of financing irresistable enough to negate free market competition? For instance, the pedestal TV is over 1k more expensive at Circuit City before tax. Just curious- I would think Circuit City and Best Buy would have lower prices given their size.
