PC Video Authoring & Editing../
by castingRod47 / January 23, 2007 5:42 PM PST

Microsoft Movie Maker 2../
is an excellent Program../
I start all my DVD-movies in MSMM../
This is where I first Capture to via Firewire IEEE1394../
..
I think the difficulty in starting the process is to understand the FILE-extensions..and the Editing Process(involveing)Audio..
..
SOOOooo.....
............First OFF/.....your Video CamCorder/PalmCorder has its own FORMAT called DV..Windows might list it as Video File/
..
Once this Format is Captured in MSMM..
you can EDIT in that FORMAT(DV)../and SAVE in the MSMM File Extension..which will(useing)TAGS..Re-open the PROJECT/still in DV..adding all your Project Properties(LIKE)Transitions-Effects-Audio..your READY to SAVE To MY COMPUTER..useing one of the CONVERSION Formats/creating a Filename-->>choose your Conversion File..
I always choose the DV-avi File Extension..this is your best..for continued EDITING..and then on to a Software Program from ROXIO-NERO-ADOBE-whatever..
Understanding COMPATIBILITY allows one to draw from these Software makers..since MPEG2 is your Compression to DVD Format..its WMA-MP3 that is your Compatible Audio-FILE..you'll come away w/LPCM or Dolby-Digital/both Digital Stereo Sound Formats..
..
On the Video side..your Image-/
I use....DV/DV-avi/WMV/WMV[ntfc]Large Frame/-->>these fall into the DVD/Video File/composition..
..
To EXPORT:--->>WMV allows for alot of FRAME SIZES...even a Manually adjusted FILE can be made..remember your PLAYER will show a FRAME-size..some can be the size of a CREDIT-CARD..some a little larger..
WMV[ntfc]Large frame is FULL Sized Video..but when compressed to MPEG2 and DVD..creates a somewhat(degraded)IMAGE..
..
Minimum Hardware Requirements/
P4
512 MB's RAM
Digital Sound Card
IEEE 1394 Fire Wire
NTFS HDD for Storage[7200rpm]
DVD-burner..there are two FORMATS
DVD Burners use either[DASH][PLUS]-->>or both[-][+]
DUAL Layer comes in PLUS these Days-->>you'll need a Compatible DVD(Home)Player/the Quality is excellent for a TWO-Hour Movie..
......................................................................In the MPEG-2 Stage I alwyas use High Quality..this provides excellent SHARP-Clarity..anything else is VHS(VCR Tape)Quality-->>why bother..
......................................................................
Digital Stero Sound....on your DVD Disk...Playback in your Home DVD-Player..useing MPEG-2...
Both Blanks will Playback in Home Players...[-][+]...
Useing the MPEG-2 Format..your Burner and Software must be Compatible..
......................................................................
That's about it....//DVD Blanks were costing some $$2.00 each...
Today they cost about $$.60...
Dual Layer is running some $$1.00 each or even $$4.00 each..you'll need to shop around..your Burner needs to be a Dual Layer Burner..and your Software needs to have that capability also..
The Home Player nees that Compatibility FORMAT./[end]

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
