Too small a screen

Feb 21, 2009 3:40AM PST

Had to take my laptop off to be cleaned. It has the most basic XP package. I have no software apart from rich text and open office which Ive downloaded.

It came back with a screen surrounded by an inch of black all the way round. Ive tried to change the screen resolution, ive tried stretch and thats the extent of my computer knowledge?

Can anyone help because im getting on a bit and reading small text is a pain. It also effects some of the sites I go on too because I cant roll the bit of the screen I need to implement actions.

Awaiting your response.

Sounds Like It Needs Drivers
Feb 21, 2009 4:28AM PST

Specifically, the graphics driver should support the correct resolution which would make the display correct.. If you haven't install ALL of the hardware drivers for the computer, you need to do so. The video, audio, chipset/motherboard, ethernet, wireless device... None of those are installed by Windows XP.. On the other hand, if you used the Recovery Discs that came with the computer, which should include most of the drivers, you may need to visit the manufacturer's website to find and download the most current video driver.

Hope this helps.
