Too many programs in Start Menu

by polefroggy / October 13, 2004 10:13 AM PDT

I have 11 Program Icons (small) on the left side of my Start Menu. On the right side I have the usual items (ie. My documents, my pictures, network connections, etc). I have had this setup since May with no problem. I am running XP Home SP2. Downloaded SP2 over a month ago with no problems. Here is the Start Menu hassle: when I click on the Start Button, I get a popup window saying not all programs can show, I need to delete some or use small icons. I only have 11 on the Start Menu and already use Small Icons. In properties I told it to show 30. Why am I getting this popup window? Thanx.

The reason for the new post is because just when I thought I stopped getting the annoying popup window I was wrong. It was back. It doesn't come up everytime I go to the Start Menu. It seems like it has a default timeout on it where once it shows itself it won't rear its ugly head again for a certain period of time. I have shrunk my start menu down to show only 10 now per the customize button and am waiting to see what happens.
