Tones/Alarm nokia 6230

Im a college student who uses my phone as my alarm clock. The 6230 as an alarm would beep once quietly, and then beep like a normal alarm clock. For about a week now the phone isn't doing that anymore. Now it only vibrates... tell me how the sound of a vibrate is supposed to wake someone up??? I thought maybe someone messed with my settings, and when I checked, that wasn't the case. I tried to change the tone to 'beeping' from 'standard', and when I tried to preview it, it only vibrated. Is anyone else having this problem with the nokia 6230??
