Two possible causes, is the heater(fuser) is not up to proper heat range or voltages and the paper itself. While you state the paper worked before, when it comes to paper, "humidity" is everything to quality print. So, if you paper store properly or you can try some other paper to check this out, even one already used, just try the other side. The fuser of most laser printers "fixes" the toner in place as it heats the ink and paper to sort melt on to each other. For now that's all I can think of.

Brand new printer -- bought 2 days ago:
(Actually, exchanged 2 days ago -- the other had a different fault.)
It's a Brother HL-2135W.
The toner is kind-of coming off pages -- especially where I fold the paper -- and I've left the paper for 15 minutes or so to dry before folding it.
Also, there are speckles of toner in areas on the sheet where there's supposed not to be anything printed.
The previous printer that I exchanged for this one -- same type -- didn't have this problem with this paper, so I don't think it's the paper itself.
I think this is a case of back-to-the-shop...
But is there anything that can be done about it?
What causes this?
