General discussion

To the good people of SE. Wishes for a blessed and bountiful Thanksgiving.

Nov 24, 2003 9:55PM PST

My Thanksgiving Day greetings to the members of SE.

Takes about three minutes to load but it's worth it

I am thankful for the fruitful and fulfilling blessings that have been sent to me throughout the year. I am also thankful for all the stressful and trying blessings that have been sent to me that helped me to grow stronger and wiser.

I know what you mean. Right now my talent is limited to putting my great grand kids into unusual scenes like fish tanks and pumpkins. Righr now I'm putting their faces on snowmen. pretty cute though.

Yes, Thanksgiving.......

So much this year alone:
* My Mother had neck surgery and is now doing well
* My Dad, who will be 80 on December 16th, is doing great
* My children are healthy and doing well
* I have my own home
* I have found the "love of my life"
* Life is good

And good Thanksgiving wishes for you Rosalie. This year I have had

an awful lot to be thankful for. One recent thing...I almost waited too late to get a turkey of the kind we like. Went out yesterday to get our traditional that is smoked in New Braunfels,TX or Fredericksburg, TX. Spent several hours driving to different stores and they were all sold out. Am a little particular on smoked turkeys, don't care for California or local store brand 'smoked'. Noticed yesterday that Opra Winfrey gave out $40 Tyler, TX turkeys to all her audience along with her huge annual giveaways. We don't seem to get those Tyler turkeys. Well, finally found a turkey not too far from where I live that was smoked in Yoakum, TX, a little town about 80 miles away that raises gazillons of turkeys. It's been years since I've had one of theirs, but they are excellent. We also like regular baked turkey and the fairly recent doings of turkey fried in peanut oil, but smoked is still our favorite.

Hi John. Hey, you could be talking about my family!

Smoked or barbecued, call it what you want, is also our favorite. Yours is probably a different type smoked. My son cooked one on the pit a couple of years ago and everyone loved it, so it's a mainstay now. There is always roasted turkey but we have tried, and liked, the fried one in peanut oil.

Almost since first married I have had the 'family' dinner at our home. They like the way I make dressing (Yeah, sure! Snow job) and everybody shows up every year. The family is up to 22 now.

We are having 4 turkeys, (3 smoked, 1 roasted) and a ham (everybody gets take-home). Have to cook ahead for a crowd like that and most is already done. Will be doing the finals for the dressing (a huge amount) and baking pies all day today. Others are bringing all the other stuff. I love having everyone over for this day and look forward to it every year.

What a beautiful card, Rosalie!

Before leaving for Boston, I arranged to have one delivered to my CIS mailbox that I was going to post yesterday. Unfortunately, my laptop has died (Santa, are you listening? Wink ) and CIS no longer allows "classic" members to log on from the web Sad So I can't post a fancy greeting as usual -- but
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, ONE AND ALL!

That's what I had planned on doing but it wasn't going too well, I've been snowed under with preparations for Thanksgiving dinner and time was running out so I took the easy way.

However my wishes are just as sincere as if I spent hours on creating something special!
