To steffinjames: about post deletion.

The 'format' of the url isn't important. The actual url that gives that issue is. But you didn't tell, so we can't check.

Moreover, if going to this site is necessary for your work and it doesn't work in your work PC, your IT people should solve it.

That's especially so if it works at other PC's at your work or this same PC or laptop at your home. In that case either your PC is compromised or the network security is to blame.
If it works on none of the company PC's it's surely their task to solve it by installing necessary or removing blocking software.
So - whatever the symptoms - it's their job. We can't do it for them.
