to late to ask but....

Dec 5, 2003 10:55AM PST

Hi just currious but 1 of my previos computer a p3 1.0 ghz went 10-7 (dead) the Mboard was a soyo well anyway every time i needed to switch from my speakers to headphones while switching(removing the speaker cable and introducing the headphone cable) the comp. would restart..why ? a wild guess would be alot of static ? or grounding some where.. i don't know but i've always have the question in my head what can cuase that ? kept on like that until it wouldn't turn on anymore...wishful thinking : maybe the Mboard still works if i try to iselate the Mb from the case
well any suggestion on this mystery is greatly apreciated................ yea the comp. would restart just by removing the speaker cable Sad... mostly when introducing the cable.............(Conector)

Maybe this might be a solution. Why not a speaker set with earphone plug-in? Just thinking out loud.

Hope it is not too late for an answer !
Well, you are quite correct to think of static. The computer-Mother Board- Processor are very sensitive to change of electricity, and disconnecting the speaker and then connecting the headphones result in great changes to the MoBo's and processor's micro components and circuits. If this has been a house hold wiring system, the sudden equivalent great changes in electrical load would have tripped the circuit or blown a fuse. As it is, Windows protect itself by going for a brief vaccation to 'unwind'.
