thank you for your help, this is lizzie. i'm going to take your advise, one quick question. I had the norton firewall, and maybe i did it wrong, but after i installed it i could not access the internet (IE). i seem to have the same problems with Norton AV. is there s.thing i need to do to prevent this???

I do not use Norton, so can't help you with that problem. I use AVG 7.0 Pro. (paid version) along with Zone Alarm Firewall (free version). Since your question deals with Virus and Security Problems, I suggest going to the "Virus & Security Alert Forum" and explain your problem there, they have some Excellent Moderators that can help you with your security. Also when you post a question, please give as much information as possible about what your operating system is, such as computer type, and what windows you use, as well as any other information that can be used to solve your problem. You will also need some programs for spyware, such as AdAware SE, Spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard. Just to name a few. This is why I suggest going to the other forum, so you can get help with your security issues.
