General discussion

to get the most of your mp3 player you have to go mainstream

Jan 10, 2009 7:12AM PST

I have noticed, almost anything that comes out for mp3 players, such as radio integration, car integration, etc, you either have to have a Zune or iPod. anyone else who has anything else must use an aux jack to use their mp3 player. To control the music, you must control it from the player itself, unlike many products out there for Zune and iPod.

The point of this thread is I just want to see what people think about it. For me, next time I need and mp3, I am going to have to go mainstream to be able to enjoy the most out of my mp3 player. There are great mp3 players out there but not that many accessories for it.

What do you guys think about this subject?

not really

If you're buying an mp3 player for music doesn't matter if you're going mainstream or not. I have a Zune 80GB and I don't have any docks, cases, or special speakers. Just a good pair of headphones and my Zune loaded with music, photos, and videos. If you use it for its intended purpose and you like the build then go for it. Most cars that offer integration usually have an audio jack so thats not a problem and a lot of mp3 players have radios in them. Really the only thing you need to get is the AC adapter and headphones.

well as just an mp3 player, i understand

what I mean by getting the most of it is having the most third-party support for it. as you said, most cars do have an audio jack but to control the music, you will have to look at your mp3 player, you won't be able to use easier controls such as controls on the steering wheel

personally i feel that the controls in the car/on radio are a joke.
I have a Ipod and I BOUGHT a radio with a Ipod connector. Its a joke. (I have ranted prior so i wont go into it again, sufice it to say alot of issues)

but I use a holder that goes on my windshield now and a charger which has a audio out which goes into the aux in.

I just seem to like controlling it from my device.
