Titles Do Not Highlight

by SunderlandFan / March 5, 2007 7:59 AM PST

Probably not the best description but here is the problem. On my son's computer (XP,SP2) in either Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer, when he runs his cursor over 'File' or 'Edit' or 'Tools' etc the word does not highlight. On my computer when I do this it has a dark grey background. Both computers have the 'silver' setting. On my computer at work when I do this the area around the word raises up but doesn't change colour. Anyone know how I can change the setting on my son's computer so the background around the word is darker?

Thanks,

Try "Use visual styles on windows and buttons"
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / March 5, 2007 8:23 AM PST

Is this enabled at the Control Panel System utility. On the System utility [Advanced] tab, in the Performance section, click on the [Settings] button. You'll see four radio buttons.

Set as you see fit.

Use Visual Styles on Windows and Buttons
by SunderlandFan / March 5, 2007 10:19 PM PST

Thanks Bob. Unfortunately this didn't fix the issue. However I did track down the problem. It was the new 'theme' that he had downloaded. All other themes (XP etc) worked fine. We changed it back to XP theme then changed his background to the picture he wanted and everything worked ok.

Thanks,

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
