Tips to Get Free Apple Repair?

Dec 31, 2014 5:43PM PST

Hi guys, I know I know, its not ethical, its my fault etc etc. But does anyone have tips to get a free repair/replacement at Apple's Genius Bar?

Th situation is that I'm a college student and I'm pretty much broke but I spilled some mineral water on to my 11-inch, Mid 2013 Macbook Air. To make the matter worse, I tried switching it OFF/ON. Now my screen is stuck on the user page where you have to type in your password. I managed to typed in 4 letters before the whole screen froze. The cursor won't move and I can't OFF it. There is no physical signs of water damage btw.

My question is, if I play completely dumb and go to the Genius Bar and tell them my screen suddenly froze, will my warranty cover it?

If you have any tips/experience on getting free replacements/repair or advice on what to say to get it done for free, that will be great! Thank you Happy

That there are no physical signs of water damage on the exterior, doesn't mean they can't see it in the interior. It's well known that cell phones have some water sensor inside that saves its history, and why wouldn't they use that here also?

outer you cant see what damage in device you have to remove the screws and check the board only for exact damage for your instrument
