Tips for new RPG game

I'm planning make a medieval RPG game (maybe I'll do in a near future) and I want to discover what people likes. So, to the questions:

1. About the atmosfere, I certainly will do something with a painful theme, but, wich would you play: a darkful game, like Dark Souls, or a more bright game?

2. Do you prefer a complex attributes system (strength, dexterity, intelligence...) or a simple system (health, magic, stamina).

3. When survival machanics, like temperature, hunger, thirst, diseases etc,
disrupt the fun?
