Time Warner Cable (Road Runner) cheap

I don't know about everyone else but when I hear that cable internet i supposed to be fast I think ok, that means It will out run the crappy DSL service I used to have. Not the case. When I was in Germany I had ADSL 2+ that said 6000kbps. I come home and Time Warner says that they can provide me speeds upto 50mbps. Looking at the prices they had (honestly a hundred bucks for internet, get real) and decided that I should really only need 20mbps. Well at first they didnt even give me my 20, they had to call "tier 3 support" and that took days. Then I still didnt get anywhere close, and thats using the test from their servers. So I decided to crack out my D-Link Wireless N router thinking that maybe their single antenna modem is garbage. See the dsl that I paid 19.99 for came with a Modem that had built in N wireless and Gigabit ethernet. Well surprisingly running on my old router (DIR-655) I got Twice the speed at twice the distance away.My thought why is america still giving out half ^%#$# equipment when other countries are giving out better and charging less. My downloads are still slower than they used to be, significantly. They can advertise a connection of 50mpbs but guess what if your wi-fi has a max of 54 and your ethernet a max of 100 good luck ever seeing those speeds. Anybody else had issues like this or providers that actually gave what they advertised?

Yes I've seen that BUT

Only if remove the router, direct connect and only on their network. Some folk have a very hard time understanding that once we transition off the TWC network onto the internet that the speed drops depending on many factors.

You will also notice that the internet infrastructure is not as advanced in the USA!

That's what I mean

I had to add an after market router in order to speed up the connection test based upon their servers (the test their techs use). How sad..

You need to learn a little bit about things.

Did you have an actual problem you needed help with or were you under the impression this is where you throw temper tantrums?

Cable and how to trouble shoot it. First take the wireless out of the equation, which seems to have fixed your problem, but you do not seem to be coherent in this post, so I am not certain. If you get the speed you are supposed to from the wired ports, then the problem is not the cable but after the modem, your home network so to speak. Liability and cost ensures you are not getting the BEST wireless device in America, I shudder to get cable or DSL incorporated wireless gateways, separate modem and buying your own router you have done research on is ALWAYS the better option here. The wireless gateways are generally designed for minimal distance, and there is a reason lawyers would sue them for knocking out other wireless if they used strong wireless.

From there you can look into router software like ssider, which will map your wireless spectrum and show you where the spots that will have noise from neighbors using same frequency/channels are at, sometimes changing the channel to a static one you can tell is better is all that is needed, especially in close proximity/apartment living.

If you are still having issues with out wireless 192.168.100.1 shows signal stats and error logs on most modern docsis modems, posting those will help people with RF over coax knowledge maybe diagnose your particular set up for issues. regarding SNR [signal to noise the most common issue] or linear and non linear distortions.
