Time to display Setup

Feb 10, 2011 6:39AM PST

Windows 7 Home Premium OS.
I have one computer with Pheonix bios that displays the "Click xxx.. to Enter Setup" screen for about 5 seconds.
Have another with AMI bios that displays for about half a second.
Wondering if there is any way to adjust the duration that these screens show, or is that just built into the bios.

I've never seen "xxx.." as an option.

What make and model machine or motherboard is this?

Not xxx

Not really xxx Bob. It's like, Hit Del, or F9. Different on each computer.

Ahh, that's a bios option.

If you can supply a PDF or fine document on the machine in question I'll see if they document where to change the boot delay. It's NOT STANDARDIZED but I've found some BIOS allow you to switch it off.

http://www.pcguide.com/opt/opt/bootSpeed-c.html notes the Boot Delay and the Quick Boot that it MIGHT BE CALLED.

Find the document and I'll read it.

No document, but

I checked the link you provided and feel like we may be thinking of different things. The computers boot up with no problems.

My boot sequence is like most I think:
1. Windows logo screen
2. Manufacturers logo screen (during which time I can enter bios setup)
3. Windows Logon screen

I was just wondering if the time that item 2 is displayed, is adjustable.

Sorry

But this is not unlike you asking advice on adjust some feature on a car but not sharing the make, model or even a picture of the car.

Given so little to work with, any guess will be a bad one.

This adjustment depends on who wrote the BIOS code

I have a Compaq DC7600 and it is adjustable, the setting is in a group of settings in the bios headed Boot Options. If you know how to access the setup utility why not go into the bios and have a look round at what settings are available. As long as you don't save any changes before exiting what harm can it do?
Some bios don't have a graduated adjustment, I can set mine in 5sec steps up to 20 seconds, some just have on or off and then it comes as a setting Fast Boot which is either enabled or disabled.
Like Bob said it is not a standard setting so every system is different, if you have a motherboard user guide this will also document the bios settings and is worth a read.

Thanks

Thanks peacox. I suspected such, but my Boot Options only include Quick Boot Enabled or Disabled. I know that disabling this will slow down the boot time (for doing other tests), but all I wanted to do was slow down the option screen to enter bios setup.
Looks like I can't do that, but thanks for the input.
