should not have to be told to exclude itself from backups.
Is the TM disk mounted on the desktop?
Do you store anything else on the TM drive

I discovered that Time Machine had not made any backups in several months. The application is switched to On, but it obviously hasn't been working. In the preferences under the System Folder, the only entry in the items to be excluded list is the Time Machine backup. Is that the problem? Should I delete that, or is there something else I should do? It's currently running a backup that I instigated from the icon in the dock, but obviously I want the regular backups to resume.
This is a desktop Mac with an Intel processor running OSX 10.6.7
