is a fancy name for a hard drive in an enclosure that has, wireless and other ports available on it.
The backup is done with Time Machine and is not specific to Time Capsule.
Do nothing with your computer until you get your Snow Leopard disk.
Boot from the Snow Leopard disk and do a FORMAT and Install. This will install Snow Leopard on your MacBook and at the first boot it will ask if you have any data to move from another machine or a Time Machine Backup.
Make sure that the TC is powered up and plugged into the MacBook.
Follow the instructions, it should find the October backup.
Probably the reason you purchased the TC was to backup your stuff. One has to wonder why you are not doing it. It usually takes something like this to make believers out of people.

The hard drive on my MacBook has just died, so I had a friend help me replace it yesterday. I have a time capsule that I used to back up my Mac (last back up with in October).
Now that the new hard drive is installed, I've connected the MacBook to the Time Capsule, but it's not finding the October back up (or any back up). I'm worried that I have lost all of my pictures and music.
Before I lost the hard drive, I was running snow leopard. Now, I have only installed leopard so far. I left my snow leopard disk at work and have not had a chance to grab it. Maybe the different OS has something to do with this...
I'm not that familiar with the time capsule, so there is probably something I am missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
