Tiger Direct is a Sham

Aug 26, 2009 11:37PM PDT

Dear Tech Reader,

Have you ever had an issue with processing orders with Tiger Direct?

I would like to know if anyone has any current lawsuit pending against this company do to their credit card processing and policies.

I placed an order on the web based side of the system and within in minute called to have this order stopped and place a different order adding equipment.

I was assured that my card would not be billed for the web based order and the new order would be the only order charged to my card.

This company is such a fraud, they have done this to me several times and I have called to complain without results.

Current they have holds on my card for charged that have been redirected to their facility and it is showing on UPS and in their system.

They are not releasing these hold until they feel like it.

If you are currently using Tiger Direct, would make another choice.

Regards,

Anthony Pietranico

I would say this is possible with any company. Sounds like you drew the short straw.

Tiger Direct has been fine for me in the past.

So you make this a habit?
Aug 27, 2009 9:57PM PDT

You said they've done this to you several times. So you make a habit of placing an order and then cancelling it within a minute and calling to make a new order? Cancelling one transaction and making another with a company at the same time can lead to this sort of problem no matter who you're dealing with. As someone who has worked retail and had to handle returns and exchanges, sometimes the computer tells you it has done what you asked (such as refunding or stopping a transaction) and you find out later from an enraged customer that it did not do what you asked.

great deals

I had that happen before from this company. It ties up your credit as it is sorted out. What I really do not like is offers that you find after you make the order which where not advertised at a low price before hand. If you try to add it and starts costing more than you are trying to save.
A big problem I had was ordering a compressor with wheels form amazon . They said it came with wheels but arrived no wheels. I called up they said I have to talk to the manufacturer and then it turns out that the wheels where discontinued. I am still lugging that compressor around. Sure would be easier if it had wheels. but good experiences with them. I would have to agree in assuming that placing an order online, then cancelling it immediately may be causing some of the issue.

Hope it all works out soon.

Tiger Direct Ships in 24Hrs Claim is False
Dec 18, 2010 12:32AM PST

Placed an order for a PC that I needed quickly. Their web site says 'Ships in 24 Hrs'.
As I needed it quickly I paid extra for 2nd day delivery.
This appears to have been a waste of money as when I reviewed the order status details on the web site, there is a statement saying 'Allow 7 to 10 business days for order processing and shipment'.
Had I known this I would not have placed the order.
Their response time to email inquiries is also woefully slow.
I'd probably think twice before buying there again.

Worked for me.

I ordered on Monday AM for next day and it was there the next day. If you happen to do this late on Saturday you are falling outside the business day and won't get it next day. Also, UPS is not running trucks around on Sunday.

Are you saying UPS and everyone must operate 24x7?

Working 24/7
Dec 18, 2010 3:33AM PST

I understand the concept of 'Business Days' Bob.
My comment was regarding their claim that it 'shipped' in 24 Hrs.
I had assumed that they meant business days.
That's quite a bit different from '7 to 10 business days'.
I've bought from them before and had no problems... just this time I needed it quickly. I shopped around and made my buying decision based on their ability to ship quickly.

Glad you got your stuff though Happy

Could be a web site error.
Dec 18, 2010 3:40AM PST

I've lost count of where the web site has boilerplate content where they need to be more exact.

Then again, why should they fix it unless folk point it out to them?
