Clarification Request
My Thunderbird has never had a password.

So I think you might be asking about your email account passwords. For that you reset those passwords with each account you forgot. It varies with each account BUT Thunderbird here has never asked me for a password.

What do you mean with "getting it to open" and what exactly happens when you start doing that.

Sorry, it keeps coming up with " incorrect password".

Thunderbird here

Has never asked for that. I have to make an assumption you are talking about an email account password. When we setup Thunderbird we add our email accounts and that is where many folk burn out.

Thunderbird still runs and you dismiss that error then setup, change your settings to fix it.

Setup varies with your email account so I can't guide you far. Maybe your email provider has the steps?
